The space in Project Haven was the original 1983 kitchen and family room with lots of brown cabinets and a red brick fireplace. The fireplace stayed and everything else went. I wanted it to be light, bright and functional so we changed the peninsula kitchen to an island to create a better flow and painted everything white—with a dash of color on the lower kitchen cabinets. With the addition of brass fixtures and coastal elements, this cool California home is a perfect fit for a growing family.
